GIFs and polls

With the plus sign to the left of the message field, you can send not only photos but also moving pictures (GIFs) and polls.

Send a GIF

A GIF is a short moving picture. Rasum has its own GIF search.

1. Open the chat.
2. Tap the plus sign to the left of the message field.
3. Tap “GIF”.
4. Without a search term you see popular GIFs. Or type a search term at the top.
5. Tap a GIF.
6. The “Add media” preview opens. Tap send.

With “Cancel” you close the GIF picker without sending anything.

iPhone: The “GIF” entry shows a picture icon . Android: The “GIF” entry shows a sticker icon . If you were replying to a message before, the reply is kept for the GIF.

The results adapt to the language of your phone.

Who sees my GIF search?

The GIFs come from the service Giphy. Rasum passes all GIF requests through its own Rasum server. This way Giphy does not see the internet address (IP address) of your phone.

The GIF search shows an error

The GIF picker can show these messages:

Message	What to do
Android: “Couldn’t load GIFs.” / iPhone: “GIFs konnten nicht geladen werden.” (shown in German in the app)	Check your internet connection. Tap “Try again” (iPhone: “Erneut versuchen”, in German).
iPhone: “Nichts gefunden.” (shown in German in the app) / Android: “No GIFs found”	There are no GIFs for your search term. Try a different word.
Android: “Couldn’t prepare this GIF. Try another one.”	Choose a different GIF.
Android: “GIF search isn’t configured.”	The GIF search is not working right now. Write to us, see Get help.

Android: While a GIF is being prepared, the app shows “Preparing GIF…”.

Create a poll

With a poll you vote on a question in a chat, for example on a date.

1. Open the chat.
2. Tap the plus sign to the left of the message field.
3. Tap “Poll” . The “Create Poll” screen opens.
4. Write your question under “Question or topic”.
5. Enter the answers under “Options”. With “Add option” you add more answers.
6. Optional: Turn on “Hide votes”. Then the results are only visible once the poll has ended.
7. Send the poll.

Android: Under “Settings” you can also set how many votes each person has: “Votes allowed per person”.

Vote in a poll

In the poll, tap the answer you want to choose.

Android: Below the poll it says “Total votes: …”.

Android: For a poll with hidden votes, it says “Results will show after the poll has ended” below the poll.

Edit or end a poll

You can edit or end your own poll.

1. Press and hold the poll in the chat.
2. Tap “Edit poll” or “End poll” .
3. When you end it, Rasum asks “Are you sure you want to end this poll?”. Confirm the question.

After the poll has ended, nobody can vote anymore. Everyone sees the result.

Find all polls of a chat

All polls of a chat are listed in the chat info.

1. Open the chat.
2. Tap the chat name at the top. “Room info” opens.
3. Tap “Polls”.
4. Choose “Ongoing” or “Past”.
