Accept or decline invitations

When someone invites you to a chat or a group, you get an invitation. You decide whether to accept it.

Where do I find invitations?

Invitations appear in your chat list. The row shows for example “Anna (@anna:rasum.chat) invited you”.

You see only invitations with the “Invites” filter above the chat list. More under Chat list.

Accept an invitation

You accept an invitation directly in the chat list.

1. Find the invitation in the chat list.
2. Tap “Accept”.

The chat then appears as a normal chat in your list. You can write right away.

Decline an invitation

If you do not want an invitation, you decline it.

iPhone:

1. Tap “Decline” on the invitation.
2. Rasum asks “Decline invite” – “Are you sure you want to decline the invitation to join …?”.
3. Confirm the question.

Android:

1. Tap “Decline” on the invitation.
2. A menu opens: “Decline invite” – “Are you sure you want to decline the invitation to join …?”.
3. Tap “Decline”. With “Cancel” you keep the invitation.

Decline an invitation and block the sender

If someone is harassing you, you decline the invitation and block the person at the same time. After that, you no longer see any messages or invitations from this person.

iPhone: Tap “Decline and block” on the invitation.

Android: Tap “Decline” on the invitation and then “Decline and block” in the menu. On the next screen you can also report the person.

You find blocked people later under “Settings” → “Blocked users”. You can also unblock them there. More under Manage a chat.

Why don’t I see a profile picture on invitations?

In the settings, you can hide profile pictures in invitations. This protects you from unwanted images from strangers. The switch is called “Hide avatars in room invite requests” and is under “Settings” → “Advanced settings”.

Do I get a notification for invitations?

Yes, Rasum can notify you about new invitations. How to set this up is explained under Notification settings.
